Women’s Rehabilitation Group (WRG) was started in 1983 by a group of Indian American women to help widowed, divorced, abused and deserted women and children in India to stand on their own feet, earn their own livelihood and lead self respecting lives.
The goal continues to be to provide skills and education to empower these women to be financially independent. By starting their own small businesses or entering the workforce for the first time, they build confidence and self- worth, thus breaking the cycle of dependence, abuse and poverty for themselves and their families.
What We Do
In the 30 plus years WRG has touched the lives of thousands of women and children and helped them fulfill their dreams. Over the years WRG has solely funded and established vocational training centers in India. As the organization has grown our horizons have expanded. Today WRG provides scholarships not only in India but also here in the U.S. Our scholarships provide educational funds for widowed and divorced women as well as promising students to attend nursing, computer, beauty care and tailoring courses and to attend high school or college. WRG also collaborates with other organizations to provide group programs for young women. Our efforts have assisted physically and mentally challenged individuals and contributed to multiple programs by providing wheelchairs, computers, Braille materials, prosthetics and vocational training.
The entirety of your donation goes directly to the neediest of the populations. WRG has no middlemen and no administrative costs.
WRG is a tax-exempt organization.
